Safety Alert Patrol | Part-Time / Contract | Baton Rouge, LA (Remote Friendly)
THE MISSION: Every day, schools across America need protection they can't afford. Every day, retired veterans and law enforcement officers leave careers of service with nowhere to direct what they've built. Safety Alert Patrol (SAP) closes that gap. We connect retired military veterans and law enforcement officers with K–12 schools, houses of worship, and healthcare facilities that need experienced security professionals — at no cost to the guards who serve and no cost to the institutions they protect. Our model is simple: community-driven, locally rooted, and built entirely on mission over margin.
We are a Baton Rouge-based nonprofit with a 501(c)(3) application pending, currently active across Louisiana, Florida, Mississippi, and Alabama — and growing.
THE OPPORTUNITY: We are looking for an experienced Grant Writer & Development Consultant to join SAP on a part-time contract basis. This is a ground-floor opportunity to shape the fundraising strategy of a nonprofit with real national potential — one that has already built relationships with sheriffs' associations, veterans organizations, the FBI, the U.S. Department of Education, and members of Congress. You will be the person who translates this mission into dollars.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Research and identify foundation, corporate, and government grant opportunities aligned with SAP's mission in school safety, veteran employment, and community security
- Write compelling, data-driven grant applications and proposals
- Manage grant calendars, deadlines, and reporting requirements
- Help develop SAP's case for support and fundraising materials
- Build relationships with program officers at target foundations
- Advise on long-term development strategy as SAP scales nationally
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
✅ Proven grant writing experience — show us grants you've won, not just submitted
✅ Nonprofit sector experience — you understand the language, the relationships, and the compliance requirements
✅ Strong written communication — you can turn a mission into a compelling narrative with measurable outcomes
✅ Self-directed — you can work independently, manage deadlines, and drive results without hand-holding
✅ Passion for the mission — veterans, law enforcement, school safety, and community service are not just resume words to you
Bonus:
Experience with veteran-focused foundations, school safety grants, DOJ COPS program, or faith-based community funding
